Michigan's Coalition for Progress Releases New Television Ad
KALAMAZOO, MI – Michigan's Coalition for Progress today released a new television ad playing in select markets around the state talking about issues important to Michigan voters. The ads highlight the need for a Democratic Legislature that will support stem cell research and will oppose Republican bills to allow pharmacists to refuse filling prescriptions for birth control along with a bill to force patients onto artificial life support even against the will of a spouse and family.
"The Republicans are on the wrong side of the issues and are focused on the wrong priorities. We need to move Michigan forward and we won't do that by banning stem cell research, denying women birth control, and forcing patients onto life support," said Kerry Ebersole, Michigan's Coalition for Progress Executive Director. "The Coalition is dedicated to moving Michigan forward by investing in our economy, improving access to health care, and building the best education system possible. All of these issues are important and voters will factor them into their decisions on Election Day."
Michigan's Coalition for Progress is a grassroots organization with support from around the state. The group has registered as a political action committee with the Michigan Secretary of State. The Coalition's transparent funding and operation is in direct contrast to the Republican controlled Working for Michigan's Future, a 501 (c) 4 organization, which does not disclose their donors and refuses to answer questions about who is really behind their organization.
The Coalition has launched television and radio ads in markets across Michigan, along with cell phone ringtones and text messaging, spreading the word that Republicans are standing in the way of moving Michigan forward. They are offering many different ways for Michigan voters to become politically active and people are responding.
"We are so proud of the more than 4,000 people who have signed our petition calling for elected officials who will move Michigan forward, along with the 1200 people who have signed onto our MySpage page," said Ebersole. "This grassroots coalition is growing and we look forward to expanding even further in the coming months and years. The Coalition is an investment in Michigan's future."
